The exit seemed a mere 30 meters away, but after running all afternoon, I was no closer than where I started.

Hardwood floor? What kind of place is this?

No joke. My guess is the “fake” stores at the abercrombie HQ, or one of their testing offices. I recognize the door and how there’s an interior wall behind the exterior wall.

Probably wrong, but it brought back memories of a crappy summer in highschool

My guess is an old industrial place that was transformed into office space. The floor looks old.

I imagine pulling one of those blinds open and seeing that background of endless skyscrapers around your own, with no activity anywhere. Except when you briefly spy “something” in a far window, that suddenly turns and looks at you then runs out of sight. That was one of the most frightening scenes in all the Backrooms stuff.

Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Liminal spaces are commonly places of transition (pertaining to the concept of liminality) or of nostalgic appeal.
