“teenage hamas adjacent terrorist runs into shrapnel; dies by his own actions” /s
edit: good points in the replies-- should have added /s because people say this unironically
i would have thought the quotes would indicate the intent of the tone of the actual headline-- guess not
If it is indeed sarcasm or anything like that, I suggest use “/s” which stands for sarcasm. People will understand the tone that way.
Sometimes its hard to figure out whether someone means their comment as sarcasm, seriously and such.
I love how Americans kill half my people, refuse to even acknowledge it. Suddenly they’re on to the next news story and morally grand standing and patting their own backs, while calling everyone else murderers
Tell me you don’t know the first thing about the Palestinian situatuon without telling me you don’t know the first thing about the Palestinian situation.
Removed for misinformation bad enough to be overt racism.
The misinformation is the statement of Americans killing half his people. It’s misinformation and bad enough to be overt racism as well. Because the numbers from his own government don’t even nearly represent a fraction of half his people.
Maybe, just maybe, the Americans who support Palestinians aren’t the same Americans who are support our genocidal military industrial complex.
70% of Americans want an immediate ceasefire. 75% Americans are opposed to any increases in military spending (56% want a decrease: https://afsc.org/news/most-us-adults-support-pentagon-spending-cuts). So please understand that the US government is a plutocracy that doesn’t represent the will of the American people anymore than Putin represents the majority of Russians.
The title of the article;
Young Palestinian creator who shared glimpses of daily life during war dies
Within the news article;
Medo Halimy, 19, died after he was hit by shrapnel during an Israeli airstrike on Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis on Monday, several of his friends told NBC News.
He was murdered, they should change the title to;
Young Palestinian creator who shared glimpses of daily life during war murdered by Israeli airstrike
Even the most passive, neutral reporter in the world in any other case could/would say
“Young Palestinian creator who shared glimpses of daily life during war killed by Israeli airstrike.”
That is just 100% fact without a shadow of any doubt at all. The airstrike created the shrapnel that killed him, launched by Israel.

Wonder what he died of? Weird that the headline phrasing is so vague and passive.
…and that still doesn’t change the fact that the headline is using passive language to lessen the impact of this boy’s death. You see this shit with police killings too; they say someone, “Died in police custody,” rather than, “Killed during a violent arrest.” Betty White died, this kid was killed in an air strike.
