I think OP is upset that it says he has to be there when it arrives. Makes me wonder if itās related to what they ordered, or if thereās been a lot of deliveries stolen from the neighborhood recently.
Itās standard practice unless you pay for a āserviceā that lets them put it by the curb or your garage or designated package box.
Since I live in an apartment on the third floor, I usually have packages delivered to a nearby package point, but there was a special on cat litter and the package is too big to fit so I have to be home.
Which wouldnāt have been a problem if it had shipped yesterday like it was supposed to, thus arriving today where Iām home all day anyway, but I have to leave tomorrow afternoon and wonāt be back again within the time window so HOORAY! š®āšØ

Here itās cheaper to get it delivered to a pick-up place near my home. Iāll just pick it up on the way home from work, almost as easy as getting stuff from my own mailbox.
Thatās just the standard here, and itās infuriating
Thatās PostNord for you. Reminder that the CEO earns ~700k a month for doing helpful things likeā¦ introducing every other day delivery of post. Hmmm.
SEK. I make 38k a month! Thus, she makes about ~18 times more than me and then a nurseās salary on top of that.
Funnily enough, the CEO of PostNord Denmark also earns ~700k, but DKK, so that is around 1.5 time that, but for running the part of the company with more losses
I donāt think she should be earning so much, but varannandagsutdelning does actually make sense with how few letters get sent (even though Iād also prefer daily delivery). But crazy that stamp prices have also basically doubled.
But just like with so many other public service things and agencies, Sweden is determined to make a paper profit. Vinstkrav. Would be cool if SJ for example was allowed to sell their train tickets for cheaper prices, but nope, they need to make at least 10% profit or something around that.

I think the main issue I have is that this also applies to time critical post, and thus post can arrive too late.

When it comes to essential infrastructure it makes no sense to me that they need to operate on a profit.
I canāt think of many examples where a postal letter will be so time-critical that it will make a big difference if itās delayed 1 day (or until Monday if delivery was on Thursday)?
But I agree, it shouldnāt have to be like that. And how much paper-profit they make would probably be nothing compared to the benefits society gets (and thus benefits the countryās economy regardless).
Never forget who ruined the beautifully working Swedish postal service. Maud Olofsson screwed us over by taking on one of the worst deals in history. The Danish must have laughed their asses off when they offloaded their failing postal service onto the Swedish people.
Iām sure Denmark has hurt you greatly and will do so again, but the ownership is 60/40 between Sweden and Denmark. PostNord operates the same in Denmark as it does in Sweden.
Itās a shame that Sweden had to lower their standards to the Danish level. PostNord gotten a lot worse in Sweden since the deal with Denmark
I think you might be misunderstanding me. Iām not trying to attack the danish people in any way.
What Iām trying to say is this.
- Sweden had a great postal service and Denmark not so much
- A incompetent Swedish politician got us into a crap deal
- Now both Sweden and Denmark has crappy postal service
- And just as you point out, Sweden is now stuck paying for 60% percent of this clusterfuck while Denmark only pays for 40%.
No wonder the Danish people often is considered some of the happiest in the world.
Iām also trying to remind people that things like this is what happens when you elect politicians that donāt have the peoples interests in mind. And looking at the current people in charge such a reminder is unfortunately highly relevant.
PostMord for the win
I once worked for them. AMA!
Were you horribly understaffed and overworked then or did you get out before that started happening?
1)How many years did you work there? 2)How old were you when you started? 3)Are there any benefits long term?
