I can’t even think about using this… I feel like I wouldn’t be able to type.

I just feel like it would be like drumming.

My hands are as one with a regular keyboard and I feel like I couldn’t keep them in sync plit up.

Eh, the split part is easy, it’s the lack of row stagger that’s going to trip you up for at least a couple of days.

You do get used to it, though, and after that a “normal” keyboard will feel as weird as it actually is, when you think about it.

One thing I love about lemmy is that random people from outside the community keep coming across our posts on All. That never happens on the reddit, everyone there is there because they’re in the community.

It’s very fun to see the reactions from outsiders to our craziness.

Anyway, trust me, you get used to it faster than you’d expect.

Ergonomic, split and other weird keyboards

Rules

Keep it ergo

Posts must be of/about keyboards that have a clear delineation between the left and right halves of the keyboard, column stagger, or both. This includes one-handed (one half doesn’t exist, what clearer delineation is that!?)

i.e. no regular non-split¹ row-stagger and no non-split¹ ortholinear²

¹ split meaning a separation of the halves, whether fixed in place or entirely separate, both are fine.
² ortholinear meaning keys layed out in a grid
