Aside from being based on Fedora 39 now, KDE is now the official desktop environment replacing GNOME. The reasons why are in the article.

The GNOME version of Nobara still exists, but it’s going to be the vanilla version shipped without any extensions (probably because many of them broke after moving to Fedora 39)

That version is on Fedora 39 since… it is released.

It is based on ublue, so

  • atomic images that work out of the box
  • nightly updates, instead of weeks too late
  • nvidia, asus, framework, razer, surface, steamdeck versions
  • wine and all the hardware stuff preinstalled
  • using SELinux
  • fleek allows to use nix
  • homebrew available

Not wanting to shame on Glorious Eggroll, Nobara simply is a hobby project and not a Distro you should use, but a cool Experiment on what it possible.

Bazzite probably uses all its adaptions, but automates the build process and defining the changes once, after that they are automatically applied to Fedora upstream.

It’s just a bleeding edge testing distro for what’s to come in gaming on Linux, with some fixes which won’t be in any other distro for months, years or ever. It has its place and i applaud the effort

It is testing but not bleeding edge, simply because it is often so outdated. But yes, I suppose Bazzie took most of their changes from it, and made it simply a bit better

Honestly you should just stick to Fedora. If your looking for very user friendly then I would go for Linux mint.

IDK , Nobara is really stable. The main difference for me was that it comes with all the AV codecs you could need, and a few tweaks for gaming. Saved me a lot of time in the end.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
