Its challenging but I think I like it for some reason
Interesting you’d start learning AZERTY (assuming you’re coming from QWERTY or QWERTZ), as opposed one of the more “efficient” layouts (Dvorak or Colemac)
You are spot on. After checking my notes this morning, I realized I meant to do Colemak. So I’m setting up keycaps on a daily driver for my home computer as we speak.
It’s easier and faster to learn by printing out the keyboard layout. Leave the old keycaps in place. This will teach you not hunt-and-peck straight from beginning.
Also it’s a priceless defense against coworkers GIMME THAT KEYBOARDing you.
Breaking your muscle memory from QWERTY to a new layout is always challenging. Good luck and all the best!
Personally I learned to touch type QWERTY in college because I can’t type fast enough to flame people in online PvP games. Shameful past, glad I’m not doing it anymore
Then it helped in actual college paperwork, but even that it felt slow, on top of getting self diagnosed carpal tunnel syndrome.
“There must be a better way” and lo I hunkered down to learn colemak
Still couldn’t get more typing speed from my QWERTY speed from what I remember—learned Colemak 2011 and did typing speed tests frequently back then—but I’m not getting anymore pain from typing since, so it’s a massive win
At the risk of offending (I really don’t mean to) that is not at all dull. You’re embarking on a mind-bending expansion of your mind-body connection that will break your ability to easily type a reply to this! Admit it, you’re struggling to use your alter-keyboard correctly here. You’ve broken through from dull to anguish in my mind. CMV
