Michael Gloss, 21, was the son of CIA Deputy Director for Digital Innovation Julianne Gallina Gloss, and Iraq war veteran Larry Gloss.

Before arriving in Russia on August 13, 2023, Gloss was travelling around Europe. On his Vkontakte page bio, he wrote: “I ran away from home (and) traveled the world. I hate fascism.”

On April 4, 2024, he was killed, likely during a Russian offensive near Bakhmut, however, his burial in the U.S. did not take place until December 2024, Important Stories reports.

Liberals are too stupid to understand how tragic this all is. None of these conflicts are worth dying for, and it’s all about rich people and their investments. Fucking disgusting.

Umm your home being invaded and your friends and family being tortured, raped and murdered is like one of the very few things worth dying for, no?

We know that. Tell the dead guy.

I feel bad that he was duped and all, but there’s only so much good will to go around.

By the end ‘he loved russia’ and he had fully believed the ‘conspiracies’. It is sad a soul has bled this earth amiss the political manipulations and turmoil. However he was happy in his service, happy in his bloodshed.

Let us be happy in his death, for now more shall live because he no longer wields weapons worth waging war.

Read the book by Barbara Walters. How Civil Wars Start and How to Stop Them. I probably don’t agree with her politically but I trust her abilities that she has a lot to offer on explaining. how governments destroy other governments via asymmetrical and/or proxy war and state sponsored terrorism. Through direct and indirect measures, all forms of terrorism is curated and created by state actors. I hate Putin. But he had every right for what he did. And like a self-fulfilling prophecy, Europe is pissing its pants… they made their bed, now they got a lay in it. But the Yankee had a lot to do with it. Most people live in a vacuum, and each conflict is like a whole new world to them. When in reality war never ends, the book of history never closes. Capitalism will always be riddled with conflict. Cooperation is the rule of civilization. Competition is the rule of the jungle.

Why didn’t he start the war when the Baltics joined Nato and surrounded Kaliningrad?

How about when we hear that treaty negotiations require the wholesale destruction of the enabling Nazi infrastructure in Ukraine

Are there demands for anyone to stand trial for genocide in the Hague as part of the treaty?

Nah, it’s all about land

Ukraine wants and deserves to be free of Russian imperialism.

In 2014, the CIA sponsored a coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Ukraine. The Nationalist or the Nazis are now in charge and Zelensky is their dildo, which is fucking us as we shell over more and more money to a war that was never to be won. The liberals fell for the last war that lasted 20 years because they wanted to save the oppressed Muslim women because they had to wear sheets over their heads. When in reality, American interventionism has destroyed their cultures. Liberals make me fucking sick. I’d rather hug a full-blown clear as bell hog fascist than ever cuddle up to a self-absorbed in denial Neo-liberal fascist yet, Putin can suck my dick, both China and Russia are capitalist countries, and at the root of all of our problems is the capitalist economic system. Everybody thinks they’re right. Everybody thinks they’re so fucking smart. There are no arms to run to. No wars worth fighting. For there is no war but the class war.

Unfortunately, while a respectable and understandable sentiment, there are wars other than the class war. The class war does extend to those other wars too, in that the distribution of those sent to their deaths and those eating caviar at home while crossing off numbers and names from lists are almost always in direct correlation with the concept of class, but the war itself is not merely about class or even the sides of the class war.

There’s more to life than the material. There’s culture, there’s identity, and there are individual humans that do exist standalone outside of their “class”. While the classes and the oppressing hierarchies of the world do play a part in everything, and anything can’t be entirely isolated from those, from that reality, it’s not the sole disagreement between people and bodies of people.

We hold immaterial things valuable, which I think is natural and very human. Some of those exist entirely outside of the class distribution or distinctions. While some immaterial things like power and influence do correlate with material possessions and thus, the hierarchies at large, the classes, some do not. And sometimes things like national identity, attachment to the language you were taught and you speak, your preference in music, sexuality or otherwise, can be the thing you either fight to forbid and exterminate (such as Russia is doing here), or you fight for, to preserve, to defend, to hold dear and be able to hold dear in the future too.

Life is complex. Humans are complex.

Not everything can be simplified and reduced to simple power hierarchies. There are strong, powerful stuff that exists exclusively outside of those definitions. And that’s only because we are irrational, feeling, dreaming humans. And we’re better for it, too.

A community for discussing events around the World

Rules:

  • Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:

    • Post news articles only
    • Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
    • Title must match the article headline
    • Not United States Internal News
    • Recent (Past 30 Days)
    • Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
  • Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think “Is this fair use?”, it probably isn’t. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.

  • Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.

  • Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.

  • Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19

  • Rule 5: Keep it civil. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.

Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to “Mom! He’s bugging me!” and “I’m not touching you!” Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

  • Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.

  • Rule 7: We didn’t USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you’re posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
