Thatâs the worst thing about dealing with Windows machines at work: itâs not just the browser that needs an adblocker!
And Iâm not going through 20 laptops to disable that (is it even possible) unless I get paid for it.
I installed with a local windows 11 account using Rufus and I have no ads. Also went back to old taskbar using StartAllBack. Itâs just a good old windows box again. Really works nicely.

This makes sense to me because most ads/unsolicited information seems to stem from there.
Itâs funny that on Windows you have to install a third-party app to change the OSâs behavior. I doubt Iâll be allowed to do that :(

I had win 8.1 for a long while. It really wasnât bad. Win 11 is what finally pushed me away from Windows.
I only had Windows 8 on a notebook that I bought and wanted to give it a try again, however I switched the machine over once I learned that it couldnât be updated to 8.1 through normal updates, but that you had to use the store, because they were really trying to push the store. Also my NAS used NFS back then, which my home edition of Windows didnât support, I think you need professional.
These two things pushed me to migrate the notebook as well

The actual history of the meme⊠it started as an MS paint sketch where they were looking to a flat earth. With just the first saying âWTF itâs flatâ one behind saying âsorry famâ. The more popular follow up was one where they were looking, except the only land mass on earth was a giant state of ohio, and second astronaut responded with âalways has beenâ.
Oh as far as the idea that they didnât look at it in transit, no idea⊠though I suppose itâs more reasonable that this is the first spacewalk or whatever. Would imagine most the trip up, youâd be looking ahead rather than back at earth. Also I suppose depends on the subtletly or lack there of of what earth is âallâ.
