Hi, I recently got laid off from my current role, and I don’t have a lot of time left to find another job. Find jobs that fit my work experience and applying to them takes a lot of time away from prepping for interviews. So I was thinking of hiring some 3rd party company that applies for jobs on your behalf based on the criteria you provide them. However, I am not familiar with these types of company and don’t know which ones are legit and which are just taking your money and wasting it and giving back nothing in return. If anyone knows of a company that they think is legit and doesn’t cost way too much, that would be helpful. I’ve read about some that also customize your resume to fit the role before applying, although I am not sure if this is a good or a bad thing. I live in the US and would prefer US based company but if there’s a legit non US company, I am open to looking into them as well.

This is called a recruiter. I’ve used them in the UK and they were great. Didn’t mess with my CV as far as I know and they were very helpful in suggesting suitable companies, skipping the HR filter, and telling me what to expect in the interviews.

However I work in a pretty niche industry (silicon verification) and I didn’t seek them out - I get a few emails a month on LinkedIn from various recruiters and hiring people and I just responded to some.

So it probably depends on what experience you have and what industry you’re in. I would definitely recommend keeping your LinkedIn up-to-date though.

I know about 3rd party recruiters and have spoken to a few, I’m not talking about them, they’ve been kind of a time waste for me, and they make their money from the companies they are recruiting for, what I’m looking for are people who I can pay to find jobs on linkedin etc and fill out the applications on my behalf.

Yeah that’s still a recruiter. Most 3rd party recruiters make their money from negotiating with a hiring company to bring them candidates.

Afaik those don’t exist or are a scam. Like best you could get is some automated bot that will spam your resume or hire someone off Fiver. Feeding your resume into sites like Indeed will have about the same amount of effect.

You’ve got to understand that anyone actually capable of getting you a job has tremendous leverage over you. They’re going to get you thousands of dollars monthly and they will want their cut.

My two cents: In the before times, this would have seemed like something more suited to a virtual personal assistant kind of service (like getfriday dot com). Though searches reveal a lot of AI tools that do exactly what you are asking for (but it’s AI).
