Just bought a new Windows laptop and it was LOADED with bloatware. Some apps could be deleted simply, some however are baked in. Discovered BloatyNosyApp and the partner app Junk Ctrl for W11 on GitHub https://github.com/builtbybel/BloatyNosy
This seems to have done the trick quickly and surprisingly easily compared to DIY powershell activity.
All PCs bought in retail should be wiped and reimaged with a fresh install. At the very best, you install the firmware updates manually or via the manufacturer app but even then I will take a second look before approving.
ITT: folks who think Linux is too complicated or whatever, but are perfectly willing to jump through endless hoops to work around some of Windows’ deliberate hostility.
The Stockholm syndrome is real.
I feel like I get closer and closer every day, but video games still keep me anchored down
The MBA dickheads took Microsoft over years ago. Engineers used to have some input on features and design, but those days are long gone. I know the term enshittification has been overused, but it applies double to Microsoft.
Tools like ShutUp10 (which works on Windows 11) are the only reason I can bear to use their bloated horrible OS for my job.
Office 365 pissed me off so much I only use LibreOffice now (and it’s excellent).
We should all be using Linux, but some folks (like me) are trapped for now.
(Mostly) mandatory Microsoft account sign-in.
- yea you can just create a local account lol.
Setup screen asking you about data collection and telemetry settings.
- so just like some current Linux GUIs and installs that also ask this. Same with MacOS
A (skippable) screen asking you to “customize your experience.”
- just press skip like any other OS that asks.
A prompt to pair your phone with your PC.
- also skipable, and isnt even asked on a local account setup.
IDK man win11 is pretty simple to “debloat” and most of the shit in this article that they complain about is common on multiple Linux, Apple, android, etc. setup/install processes.
Win11 is dogshit for a variety of reasons, like the shitty new start menu formatting/lay out. The god awful menu nesting. The laggy audio panel. The list goes on.
If we’re gonna be nitpicking an OS. Atleast nitpick shit that actually impacts operation and isnt also common on many OS’
Edit: alright some of you keep spinning this as me defending dog shit windows 11… i never did nor did i state it was a good OS. Bunch of over zealous wierdos.
yeah you can just create a local account
After manually changing regex keys. Exactly what an installer should prevent. Basic functionality is locked behind something completely undocumented, and therefore arguably more complicated than just archinstall
.
so just like some current Linux GUIs and installs that also ask this. Same with MacOS.
Except the latter is known for better privacy, and the former is rare and disabled per default. And opposite to Windows it’s not 10 different screens, and disabling is actually disabling, not just “less” telemetry.
just press skip like any other OS that asks.
Any other OS, aka. maybe MacOS. Except Mac does not reask you on a regular basis, and rather would the nether freeze to -1°K than any distro annoying you with any more setup.
also skipable, and isnt even asked on a local account setup.
Still an unnecessary and annoying screen that could be moved to later or as a setting. KDE connect is objectively better and does not annoy you with any setup information upon installing KDE or any distro. Yet it’s a much used feature.

How? Reputable tools dedicated to this have been containing malware in the past, therefore even open source software in the context of Windows is unsafe. Even if one removes all stuff possible, M$ will f*ck it down your throat again at the next update. Not to mention Edge etc. is still not fully removable and not even fully disableable.
And yes, there’s much shit in some or many mobile OS setups - in my experience only in custom ROMs from manufacturers like Chinese ones, Samsung etc. Eg. Google and Motorola are clean af. So Windows includes the bloat, in setup and OS, that’s only in the ROMs of the worst Android manufacturers.
On the rest I agree, the start menu stuff etc. is really bad. Especially people not liking change due to having been used to something will have problems. I’m keeping my (nearly blind!) grandparents far away from it, simply because they wouldn’t get along with new styles etc. at all.
