Was going to go for a simple ride tonight. Noticed this strange wear on my tire right next to the rim. Is this bad/a big deal?

Update: thank you all for your quick replies! I will be not be riding it and change it out. My rim is definitely very slightly bent, I can feel it when I ride. Definitely need a new bike since I know I’m too heavy for this bike.

Looks like prolonged use with poorly inflated tires.

May also be an imperfectly aligned brake pad rubbing the tire.

I’d take the tire off for a proper look, but to be really clear: This looks like a damaged bead, that’s bad. As in tire might fly off the rim bad.

Unless you know based off a closer look that it’s fine, don’t ride on this tire.

I’d change it for safety. Tyre is cheap, life is not :/

Bead is torn. It’s holding on by the backside cotton strands. If you don’t mind crashing, take a spare tire and tube and just send it.
