I hate how people call it “cheese pizza” for “CP/child porn.”

Like, I get that YouTube is fucking bullshit about censoring things that don’t immediately bring them as revenue, but it’s still gross imo.

You’re not defending anyone by calling it something entirely unrelated aside from the first letter of each word.

Its very prevalent in Commie-China-Places. Pooh-Bear to mean XiPIGpIng. 8964 for TiannamenSquare Massacre. Taiwan #1 Country. All those are censored behind the Great Firewall of China.

I’m pretty sure that the Chinese can’t get on Lemmy anyway though. If they somehow find a way then they don’t need to censor themselves because obviously.

Seems like a weird justification.

no i never said that justifies it. Chinese people go to jail if they are found browsing outside the Great Firewall.Google and other social media censorship can, just as quickly, lead to social credit scores ( well credit scores are gatekeeping poor people already ) and inevitable erosion of free speech and chill fair-use copyright exercising.

Censorship might have edge cases ( terror attack suspect details, privacy from surveillance, etc) but it should never be the norm and it should be directly dealt with jury-trial court-cases with Billion-dollar penalties to ensure it will never happen again without stringent checks-and-balances.

Pretty sure that cheese pizza originated in IT because it was so common to see, and ignore, CP on exec’s computers when you had to go fix them. It was used to share the info without getting busted talking about it.
