Thanks for the tips and ideas! I agree on a lot of the stuff that I’ve tried already. Maybe three (and a half) things to add:

  • Theanine helps me fall asleep when I had to work up until bed time. Take ~200mg, brush teeth, do some bed time routine and I can generally let go of the stress very well after like 20-30 minutes.
  • Slow box breathing helps a lot with calming down as well.
  • Maybe obvious, but: Doing a cold bath right before bed time is not the way to go. I need about 2 hours of activity after or falling asleep is very tough.
  • You kind of already mentioned it, but there’s nothing better when I am sick than sleeping throughout the day without an alarm. Getting like 15+ hours of sleep has helped me through a lot of light diseases lately.

Create post

The Lemmy community on the Fediverse regarding everything about nootropics, sleep, the right tools and a healthy lifestyle for maximum brain performance!

This community is made for health cautious individuals who want to improve their brain health.

This can be achieved by:

  • Nootropics - legal substances/ supplements, that are low risk and can have health benefits,
  • Supplements and good diet,
  • Physical activity - e.g. workouts, swimming, etc.,
  • Proper sleep,
  • The right tools and habits - e.g. notetaking, journaling, meditation, etc.,
  • and much more!

This community was made, at least right now, because there was no alternative to r/Nootropics on this site.

We want to be a collection of people with the same intentions and everyone is welcome here!

Rules:

  • No illegal or high risk substances, e.g. Amphetamines or other recreational drugs. They can be discussed, but not recommended. The goal is to provide the best possible conditions for good brain health and performance, and not to harm ourselfes in the long term!
  • No medical advice for high-risk medical conditions (e.g. Multiple Sclerosis). Trust experts more than random internet people. With many conditions, the wrong advice can be very risky!
  • If you give medical advice, it’s anectotal. Provide legit sources if you can. On non-critical conditions, e.g. ADHD, it’s fine. Still, be as scientific as you can!
  • Research, science and curiosity is our friend!
