Ahh yeah, that’s a neat feature.

I realize now that alias is not exactly what I meant: maybe a better word would be ‘keywords’ set for a community that could be used in lemmy search.

I mean that’s exactly how the display names work.
You can search for either display name or address.

I meant more generally: a community could set a list of keywords that they could be found by, e.g. this community could have

memes
information technology
it
satire

so we could also have a keyword search possibly:

i suggested categories a few times, but i have no idea how to suggest it to devs. also i deleted my github account.

categories could later even be used to subscribe new usrers to lots of stuff they are interested in… or unsubscribe things you no longer like.
