He literally gave gay men and lesbians a platform to talk about being gay and lesbian without treating them like they were space aliens.
As a bisexual teen growing up with little access to any information on what it was like to grow up gay Stern’s show could be incredibly educational simply because he gave a mic to people who you normally would never hear from. I treasured him for this as did many if my peers.

I can only assume the lede you buried in “many of my peers” was that it didn’t include a lot of the women.
