Whataburger vs Wendy’s is a poor comparison. I see their true rivals are Five Guys, Shake Shack, and In and Out.

And if you’re wondering about my pick, it’s Five Guys.

Five Guys is way overpriced imo. Sure they fuck you up with fries, but it’s not worth the almost $30 for a single person to eat there.

In-N-Out, on the other hand, is like $12-13 for a combo for one person and it’s goddamn delicious every time.

And five guys fries are almost always overdone. To the point of tasting bitter.

I mean I tried In-N-Out, but it was just… Fine? Maybe it was over-hyped before I tried it, but I wasn’t blown away. It didn’t do anything wrong, but it didn’t do anything for me.

My comments were steered more towards the burgers, but I will say none of the places I mentioned impressed me with the fries (esp Whataburger).

In n outs fries actually taste like packing material. Probably my least favorite fast food fries. The burger was fine, you know for fast food.

You should try the fries Animal Style and In-n-Out.

I feel like in n out fries by default are way too under-cooked. They’re basically floppy little potato tubes. You can order them light well and they fry them for just a bit longer so they don’t suck. You can also get them well done, but then they’re basically just potato chip sticks.

I had the opportunity to have both whattaburger and in n out the same week during a trip to Arizona.

Whattaburger is so whunderwhelming. My memory of it is that it’s like a big ass frozen patty on a mediocre bun.

In n out had flavor combos popping in my mouth.

It’s a no brainer, to me. My partner used to die on the whattaburger hill, but changed her tune after that trip.
