it sounds like you are implying that FLOSS programs include annoying advertising. I don’t recall the last time I saw any, and Free Software actually helps make that possible because someone else could easily, relatively speaking, fork it and release the same thing legally without the ads.

It sounds like you are creating a scenario entirely out of whole cloth. The comment was made in context referring to a post that had an unrelated link attached to it.
