yes. thank you for a more nuanced viewpoint. i’d have to agree with your assessment, even if i don’t agree with the principle.
for me, living in a society requires being part of a collective (in the modern world). i prefer many of the things that the ‘true libertarian’ prefers, but i don’t expect society to provide my selfish desires. that’s why i choose rural over urban. but the suburbs are part of am urban landscape, so if someone wants to live that NIMBY life, that need to make sure their backyard is far away from the other backyards. i realize that is getting harder and harder to do, which is why i dream of a secular society where we can practice a humanitarian from of birth control, because ultimately, a healthy life just isn’t possible when we are crowded into tight spaces. humans need room to breathe and express themselves.
