Like fuck Sean Combs, but most people stuck in jail are because they can’t post bail. Or because of the American bail system, can’t afford to pay 10% as essentially a fine.
Thousands of people deal with it every day there, it sucks we only talk about it when a rich person experiences it. But we still need to talk about.

Depends on the state. Illinois eliminated cash bail in 2023. You’re only held pending trial if you’re a threat to the community or a flight risk (to be determined at a hearing by a judge). A few other states have made changes to their bail laws to reduce the number of arrestees who are required to post cash bail as well.
