I feel like it is often called one of the band’s worst albums despite it having a lot of good songs: Certain People I Could Name, Reprehensible, and Counterfeit Faker.
I think part of it is Long Tall Weekend sort of maintains a specific chill vibe throughout the album. One description I have for is is the album I would use to introduce TMBG to a Squirrel Nut Zippers or Petrovich Blasting Company fan. Definitely prefer Severe Tire Damage’s version of They Got Lost, though.
I can see a rationalization for Long Tall Weekend as a greatest hits album, though, in the sense that it was a bunch of concert stuff (some of it which people had enjoyed) the Johns had been procrastinating on releasing, though not as much as Superfueled Freaksicle. 🙄
