Both are useless as payment in the real world at any meaningful scale ATM.

I pay for my VPS and domain with Monero. It will never be as big as Visa, but it doesn’t have to be - it has its niche.

It’s not unfortunate. It’s not accepted as currency because it does none of the things currency is for.
