Cybersecurity means that these companies should share any data the US government needs with them when they cry “terrorism” and that they do “hack backs” when foreigners try to influence US-Americans. Biden signed an executive order on this.

[…] the White House wanted to tackle the “root causes” of cybersecurity issues.

Meaning: bad actors doing bad things, so we arrest them or shoot them with a drone if they’re not on US soil.

The White House said the meetups were a recognition that the US needed a “whole-of-nation” cybersecurity strategy involving both the government and private sector.

This has nothing to do with “harmless” data leaks (data doesn’t kill people as long as there’s no predator drone flying over them) – as they’re not a concern for the so-called “national security”. Keep in mind that there’s a three letter agency with “national security” in their name, which incidentally handles cybersecurity “coordination” in some cases.

There are no solutions for any real problems mentioned in the article. It’s classical reverse lobbyism and state actors collaborating with huge companies, when they already have both the money and the resources to solve their own problems.
