Finally, don’t act like cars can’t be fun. I’m all for phasing out the automobile and revolutionizing transport by returning to the ways of olde, but cars are fun. I understand some of you are grandparents and don’t like someone revving their straight pipes mustang down your block on a Saturday morning. That’s completely reasonable. But my god does this community act like you can’t have fun in a car. I absolutely enjoy loud and fast and powerful cars, because that’s an incredible work of engineering and it simply can be fun. Going fast can be fun. Being in a car that purrs like a lion can be fun. Going offroading or drifting or racing or anything in a car can be fun.
You know where this got us, don’t you ?
When cars were first used on public roads, people had to walk in front of them waving a flag, to war people of the danger.
Every day since then, we have ceded more of the public realm, more of our heath, our safety and have put the very future of the planet at risk with idolatry of the combustion engine
This sub is a tiny pocket of resistance. A safe space for people who now now reject how society has been built around the car.
And here you are, telling us how we should act.
I think it would be best if you took you happy little “engine go vroom” stories and fucked off. And when you get there, fuck off a bit more and don’t come back.
well maybe your right, maybe slowing down research and impeding the scientific progress of the human race is a small price to pay for getting Grandma in Bumfuck, Montana onto Facebook, and maybe these so called scientists should stop poking around the universe anyway, right ?
Where better to base your operation if your business mode is lawlessness. ?
Bit cringe
Too true.
See it here daily. Some Xitter fool gets screen capped saying “world tallest cat measured in Beijing at 6 feet tall”
… first. 5 comments “wow!” “That’s huge” “he’s taller than me ! “. “So cute “
The next 5 are like “fuck the chinese and their cat steroids”
Finally, some hours later, someone observes that it was a line from futurama, 6 years ago” ….but it doesn’t matter now, because everyone has moved on with their day, telling people about the huge cats in china
This is great news
I guess hating Mozilla is very much in fashion. The tech chatterati have made it so.
They’ll move on, as they always do. I just hope Firefox is still here.
