Hi, a post was just deleted asking about how and why the subscriber counts were different between instances. This seems to be a post that would help many understand the differences between Lemmy and non-federated networks, and quality content. It was not a support request, and fit into the first category of bullets above. Can this action be reversed and more clarity placed on rule 3 for users and mods (if needed)? Thank you.

Not just number but quality. It was all memes at the start, now actual conversation is happening in more than just a few posts.

Wait until you see the one I showed off the other day: alias gl='git log --graph --abbrev-commit --no-decorate --date=format:'\''%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S'\'' --format=format:'\''%C(8)%>|(16)%h %C(7)%ad %C(8)%<(16,trunc)%an %C(auto)%d %>|(1)%s'\'' --all'

Personal opinion, but the license is fine, and this is a sensationalist headline. The author’s claims are not proven correct, and they even write:

The second point is weird. I am not certain, but this too could be considered discrimination…

They are not certain because they are incorrect.

As it stands, it sounds like a variant of GPL which they’re using to make sure they don’t get sued if it’s used maliciously, along with ensuring companies don’t try to profit on what they give away (read comment below for better details).

I’m open to changing my mind, but it would need to be changed.

I’m curious if I’ll get downvoted for this take, just bringing the facts regardless of the situation 😉

The problem here is that the meme did the same, and situational bias occurred in the reverse direction for you.

Peace on earth appears many times in the Bible in different contexts, many of them positive (as per a Google search, anyway).

Posting this at top level since its burried in replies:

Fact time. You don’t always die when shot, and the US is a baby factory. I can’t find good stats on non-lethal gunshot, so I’ll do the rest.

Verdict: Pretty accurate.

  • 8.4% without health insurance (33 in 400)
  • 11.5% poverty rate (46 in 400)
  • 20% adults at or below literacy level 1 (80 in 400)
  • 57% mental illness untreated (228 in 400) (requires math from NIH source)

If this is real, someone’s bound to do it. Probably pays well, good travel, and basically write what you want on your resume. Just quit before the inevitable sexual harassment starts.

Tasker. Could make an automation based on “state” that toggles the keyboard when app is open.
