I’ll be honest: I always prefered the “new Reddit” over the old one. With that said, the App sucks balls and it going public (as it always does) killed reddit within a few days. Now we just hope lemmy catches on and fixes some of the inherent issues with decentralization.

Currently i’m on Arch. Mostly because it’s the easiest option for me to get a Plasma Desktop that’s up to date. KDE moves so fast nowadays, that i want to be on the edge.

Currently, afaik not. I’m in the position with three accounts now and posts/notificatios spread among them. It’s so inconvenient it’s not even funny.

So verstanden.

On Desktop, 100% yes. On Mobile, Browsers in general suck pretty hard, and i often much prefer the app. If only for Notifications and recent apps being easier to manage than tabs.

I think having your account tied to an instance without an option to move is a huge issue. Now I’m still dependent on the instance owners rules and willingness/ability to keep it up. Just like reddit oranzy other centralized network. Accounts need to be movable including history and linkage to posts. Same goes for communities. We are just hyper fragmenting now. Communities need to.be able to span instances tobincrease performance and uptime as well as resiliency.

Jerboa works fine for me. The overall experience and peoeple are nice enough. We just have technicalities to iron out.

Depends on Load. Realistically, one of the used “Mini PC’s” from Lenovo or HP with an i5 and integrated graphics should be decent for a couple of concurrent streams. They are pretty cheap on ebay. You could even get 3 or 4 and cluster them in some form. But most SBCs won’t work too well since transcoding needs a decent GPU of some sort.
