Raids would come in from all sides, really. There would however always be some raiders going for the door on that side of the building and if they were coming from the east they would go over the island. Castobar was on her own so had to rebuild all of those traps by herself so they weren’t always up, though.

There are non addictive drugs that don’t cause binges in Rimworld so that shouldn’t be an issue.
