Ummm… unpopular opinion Eeyore here… I do not love the Acclaimed, I need them to change things up a little, it’s like New Day at this point, it never feels like it changes.
The Redeemer was good stuff, everything else… not so good. I hate he fizzled out like this but hopefully he’s in a good mental place and is happy whatever he ends up doing next as I don’t know that will be wrestling, he spent most of his AEW time injured or trying to get hired for TV shows.
There have been posts on X/Twitter/Nitter and some Discords that some of the Mod-Menus have bypassed the anti-cheat, which makes all of this crappy for Deck players.
The only thing I can see is that it replaces a PLE. There are no PLE’s scheduled in December that I saw on the schedule so this likely is taking the place of one and the Day One PLE hasn’t been announced for 2025 so it may not happen which would leave December and January without PLE’s. When they start releasing next years schedule, it should be interesting to see if they leave some months without a big show so this can take its place, as they need to do 1 per quarter.
I’m interested to see what they do with this, if it’s treated like a PLE with meaningful stuff or if it’s just a show because NBC wanted a show.
I know a lot of you, most of you probably, just want a TV deal, but the business aspect of it all interests me. It’s why I disagree about ratings not mattering, ratings bring the advertisers, advertisers bring the money, the money keeps the show going.
For anyone wondering about TruTV, the current plan is to turn it into a sports focused channel, NASCAR has agreed to a deal with WBD putting 5 races on TNT but TruTV will have all practice and qualifying for the next 10 years if I read the deal right. Some College Football and Basketball is also coming, WBD also has the rights to the French Open. So I guess they’re going to spend that NBA money to bring in different cheaper sports.
I really wanted PPV’s to become PLE’s on MAX, it could still happen but who knows. I am concerned a bit about the claim it would only be two shows, but three networks, unless TruTV is simulcasting some stuff. Otherwise it makes no sense, but three networks, and three shows, and apparently a Shockwave is coming.
170 million a year is great, should just about cover the costs of Final Countdown for the rest of Bryan’s run. I kid, this is great, nobody except WWE has seen huge amounts of money for Wrestling. I don’t care for needles and grocery bag suffocation’s but AEW is desperately needed to counter the WWE’s monopolistic ways.
The thing about shopping another broadcast package though is quite interesting, especially with those FOX (or Tubi) rumors a week ago.
Going through those stages of grief, I can’t wait to see how he processes it and uses it, and on whom he does use it.
Also… what’s the deal with the Summary being just a German YouTube advertisement, lol.
