Agree. Most of the new stuff Microsoft adds in their updates are desperate ideas concoted in staff meetings, just so some beleaguered coder can tell the dickhead boss they pushed out a shiny new turd. And/or they just add more spyware for the corporations that pay for bulk licenses and the data miners.
Nextdoor has gotta be in the top 10.
Years ago, I used to play live music. We played in a lot of shitty dive bars. Thinking back on all the ancient decrepit plugs we used to power our instruments, amplifiers, and stage lights with…it’s a miracle we never started a fire. Nightmare fuel now that I’m older and a little bit wiser.
The smart answer: it can start a fire, don’t do it.
The honest answer: I’ve done it a zillion times and never started a fire. I buy heavy 12 and 10 gauge cords and only chain them to power things that don’t require a lot of amps, like LED lights.
When in doubt, a plug-in power meter is an option you can use to help monitor the situation. Plugs that draw a lot of amps can get warm, even when not using an extension cord. Also, it’s not uncommon for a device to pull a lot of amps on initial power-up, and then settle down to a lower draw.
I have family there, too. It can be fun to visit, but I would hate living there. It’s also annoying how people who do live there think it’s the center of the universe, and being from NYC is a personality.
Just like he’s increasing Secular Talk viewership he’s also increasing Wikipedia donations.
I hope lots of folks also download copies of Wikipedia, just in case. Elon is a sore loser type with too much money and free time.
Many of my friends use it. I’m old school and just keep a collection of mp3s on multiple devices for backup.
