Unfortunately I think most people have family or at least friends like this here in the post-truth world.
I think what depresses me the most is that once the MAGA leopards start eating all of our faces, they will still do the mental gymnastics to blame all of the MAGA-induced suffering on “liberals”. Even though the Democrats have basically zero power (and are right of center) they will still blame “the left” when a gallon of milk costs $18 and is full of dangerous bacteria.
Having a dedicated smoker is next level. You can smoke on a regular grill and get decent results. But having a purpose-built smoker is better, IMO.
“If Books Could Kill” vibes.
People mature at different rates. There are myriad reasons for this. But it’s OK to be a little bit immature for your age. There’s no shame in it and it’s very common. Being an adult mostly sucks, anyway. You’re already aware of it, so that’s a good thing. Pay attention to social cues and behaviors of your peers and you’ll figure it out.
Yeah, it was weird. Most restaurants had a non-smoking section because allowing people to smoke everywhere was the norm. Leaded gasoline. Little kids playing with real fireworks. The 70s and 80s were a wild ride of irresponsibility.
It wasn’t all bad, though. It was cool being a kid at times. Playing outside almost every day until dinner time with the other kids in the neighborhood.
Anyone wanting a deeper dive, check out the books and videos of Professor Richard D. Wolff.
Was in a long line at the pharmacy the other day. Supervisor told one of the older techs to open another line. Tech complained that her “computer had crashed”.
Younger tech walks over and asked her if it had simply gone into sleep mode, and did she try wiggling the mouse?
That fixed the “problem”. Older tech cackled. Younger tech rolled his eyes and muttered something to himself.
How do people make it to 2024, hold down a job, and still can’t do basic computer shit.
His arch nemesis: Dr. Innuendo.
I assume most people in healthcare do the job because they actually do care.
The insurance companies create an environment that makes it feel like it’s providers-vs-patients. The ruling class has been doing this kind of manipulative crap to working people for generations.
