I talked to a guy from Springfield - and he says personally he doesn’t think it will make any difference to him whichever one gets in, because right now it’s just talk.

So his idea basically is that whoever he votes for, he’d gonna get screwed over again… this is the decline of democracy and the rise of the post-truth politicians… in many ways, watching Trump is like watching Putin’s mill putting out news - all fake and contradictory news helping to convince that all news and politicians are fake.

I’d agree with this - for Trump, it’s basically just a personality thing and his policies and what he says are less relevant (everyone knows he’s just a joker that talks crap… so you should ignore what he ACTUALLY says and trust that he will deliver… sth like that) whereas for Harris, people listen to what she doesn’t say and expect that she’s hiding the fact that she’ll install surgeries in schools to do stealthy operations so she can send Harry home as Harriette…

I do feel more optimistic that the world can be saved from more Trump - but it’s not yet guaranteed.

First step to log in is to paste some URL - and https://lemmy.world/ doesn’t work for that… another hurdle to exclude anyone not advanced enough?

Very doubtful.

ROFLMAO - looks like they had a hissy fit.

The main issues (as my best lesbian friend once chimed in with me) are the people who are rather too quick to find offence, in an aggressive way, rather than offer a correction or an explanation, or simply engage in some discussion to confirm their initial suspicions.

Ok, not a stupid question - but annoying to assume that only Google is relevant.

Also, annoying that you’ll assume that searching ‘instant rice’ will pull results from Lemmy. Even searching Lemmy for ‘instant rice’ brings zero results.

  • Instant rice simply had all of the good parts milled out If you really are interested, I’d skip it entirely - ‘instant’ rice is basically rice that got everything milled out of it, then it’s cooked, then dried - it costs a lot more and tastes like shit.

So I hope my answer will come up in your next search…

However, searching for ‘sending epub files to my kindle’ brings up quite a few… and down the list there, we see posts from 2022 in r/kindle, and entering reddit as an extra keyword pulls up more…

So really, we want to know if we search for something which should have results in Lemmy.ml, Lemmy.world - and not only Lemmy, there are others - like BeeHaw) how long is it going to take before this gets picked up by SEARCH ENGINES (Let’s not say Google, or Reddit - these are bad habits unless there’s a specific need to specify).> instant rice

protest isn’t really a big deal.

The big deal comes when people work to do the same thing on other platforms.

  • Then we’ll find out what Reddit is really good for.

Oh, and Quora, and Google, and Meta, and Twitter.

Remember, do it in Firefox - not Chrome.

This is a little bit like saying ‘What does a pen do, apart from write?’

It also looks very cool - cool enough that even people don’t find things cute will actually change their normal ping to this JUST because it’s cute.

However, if you like pings you could also go with gping for a graph… but they’re all just bloat - better stick with fping, right? ;)

Inoreader works very nicely for me. I have quite a few folders set up… Stuff I had bookmarks for, but rarely visited lately…

  • Digg Top Stories (43 unread) if I get bored - at least a dozen of those will keep me entertained.

Stuff from the ‘other’ place - useful fodder to consider ‘bridging’ or just ‘copy/pasting’ over in Fediverse :P

I added the Firefox extension, so if I visit Youtube - for example (open this in a PRIVATE window, not logged in) Insights from Ukraine and Russia then I can Easily add the RSS by searching in Inoreader.

Here’s Daily Dose of Internet

The beauty being that you can quickly go through all this stuff - great keyboard accessibility (90% covered with Shift J-K to go to the next/previous feed, Shift-X to toggle expansion of the folder, J - K to go (and mark read) the next/previous item (but you can ALWAYS view all articles in a thread)… all without visiting the sites.

Feedly and Inoreader are both awesome - and you can (and should regularly) export a list of your feeds as a backup/migration strategy.
